We recognize and value each child as an individual and provide opportunities for development in all areas. To develop these gifts and talents, teachers use a variety of methods and strategies to promote learning, academic and social growth. Since education is a continuous process, these methods and strategies are visited regularly to ensure that we reach all students at all levels and needs direction according to different learning styles. This will ensure that all students have the best educational experience possible.

Throughout the year, the faculty has been working towards the development of a new academic schedule next year to help us improve our math curriculum specifically within our fifth grade and middle school. This change in focus will be a monumental shift in the way we teach math.

Similarly that consumers know that a one size fits all will not work when buying a pair of jeans , educators know that a standard approach to teaching will not meet the needs of all or most students. Without an attempt to modify instruction to meet the individual needs of each student, the curriculum is bound to bore some and baffle others. Curriculum reform is the key to reach all students.

Changing the speed, level or type of education provided to students based on the individual needs of each student, styles or interests is an important avenue of educational change today. This instruction is both rigorous and challenging to motivate students to strive academically forward again. Instruction is flexible and varied, which allows students, where appropriate, to make decisions about how they learn, and how they will demonstrate learning. Finally, differentiated instruction in school focuses on depth rather than breadth of knowledge, providing a higher quality of learning for students.

Differentiated instruction is to teach the child in mind rather than adopting a standardized approach to teaching and learning that seems to assume that all students of a certain age are in the exact same place academically.
