Respect Life Week 2014

Blessed Sacrament is proud to be participating in Respect Life Week, an Archdiocesan-wide project for 6-12 grades in conjunction with the Office of Life, Justice and Peace.

The week of October 6-10, our students will be studying Catholic social teaching and seeking to understand their responsibility as young leaders to protect the dignity of all people from conception to natural death.

They will be presented with Catholic teaching on the dignity of every human person and challenged to apply the principles they learn to modern injustices from abortion and euthanasia to poverty and capital punishment.  Respect Life Week is meant to immerse our students in these topics so that at the end of the week they will have a fuller understanding of the incomparable worth of the human person and our opportunity to build a culture of life, justice and peace.

All of the content for Respect Life Week is available for viewing and download atwww.ArchLA.org/RespectLifeWeek.  We encourage parents to review the materials so that you will be able to converse with your student(s) about what they are learning this week.

Each day, students will be given specific opportunities for service that they can do either individually or in a group.  Some of these suggestions are also good for family service projects.  Our hope is that our students will become even more motivated to evangelize the culture for life, justice and peace.
